Interview With The Nice Sharp Pencils
IN THE ASCENDANCY, SEXILY DISTORTED AND IMPULSIVELY BRILLIANT
We have fallen mad-hard in love with the Nice Sharp Pencils which is all a bit weird because we’re not usually into that hombre-on-hombre type stuff. And why? Well firstly, they’re from Yorkshire, like us. Secondly, they have somehow imbibed the spirit of Death From Above, set it on fire, gargled it around, pissed it out on Dinosaur Pile-Up and reclaimed it as their own. Finally (and obviously following our lead) they are very much in the ascendancy, sexily distorted and impulsively brilliant.
The band formed in Sowerby Bridge in 2008, and have already supported Mumford & Sons, Blood Red Shoes, The Bronx and Los Campesinos! with their innovative, stripped-down drum and bass sound. Their debut LP (I Drive 55) will be out mid-March and once it’s finished we’ll have five copies to giveaway through our Facebook and Twitter accounts, so keep your peepers peeled.
In the interim, and before they get swept away under a huge wave of buzz, hype and other uneasy bedfellows, have a look at these pictures they kindly took for us, check out this shit-hot slab of macro-revolution (Oh Shit!), and go and catch their heretical freneticness at a live show soon.
