MYSTERY POP FOR YOUR INNER CHILD

Interview With The Beautiful Word

MYSTERY POP FOR YOUR INNER CHILD

The Beautiful Word are a Brighton-based folk quintet whose music wraps itself around the delicate joint lead vocal of front-women Emily and Megan like a Möbius rainbow. Since forming in 2007, they have played over 200 shows, bringing out multiple metaphorical inner children in the process.

The group’s self-styled ‘mystery pop’ was initially identified as sweet, melodic and fragile, but the recent introduction of a rhythm section has matured their overall sound which now lies somewhere on the continuum between pre-teen pop and honeysuckle folk, in close proximity to Ellen & The Escapades (see their intraview here).

You can download a demo of Mirrorball here. In keeping with the austere zeitgeist, it’s completely free. If you would like to further caramelise your ears, then the video for Pop It is below.
