The latest installment in our EardrumsPop series sees Sleeping Policemen from Hamburg bring a bubbling vat of indie-pop to our metaphorical table.
As well as recording two original tracks for this free release they have covered (another Hamburg band) Big Ideas’ track Jack Of All Trades with the help of a few friends. As with any band, Sleeping Policemen have been through a lot of odd-jobbing to be able to do what they love and this song describes that very feeling, yet with a megalomaniac, dreamy twist. “Consider this a hymn to all the folks with no steady income” they say.
Like their speed retarding namesake, they’d like you to slow down a little bit. That they manage this with silvery guitars, a wry turn of phrase and a wistful melodic twist instead of by wrecking your suspension is something to be thankful for. You can download the aforementioned Jack Of All Trades here to see what I mean. The video for High Skies is below. Treat yourself to the full package (three tracks, some artwork and these photos in an e-booklet) over at EardrumsPop, where you’ll also find the rest of this always awesome (and always free) series.
