Ragweed are a pro-choice, hippy-hating, coffee-injecting, tobacco-chewing, cretin-rock trio. I’d wager they’re into Nirvana and Big Black and presumably they share a certain affinity with Throwing Up (see their intraview here) and Milk Maid (see their intraview here).
Taking their name from a stubborn, irritating plant, the band started out a little over a year ago and their sound has been compared to an early Flipper record and/or a fusion of The Hives’ frenetic live kinetics and the slacker Ameripunk of The Pixies. Last August they released their Live @ The Windmill EP and in September they started their monthly DIY live underground music night (Shadows Over Cowley Club) in their hometown of Brighton. The band recorded their first studio EP last December and are planning national and European jaunts later this year. Until they invade your face, start a caffeine vortex and eat all your biscuits you can let them maraud through your eardrums by downloading Sunshine here for the price of a hundred nothings.
