Following in the prestigious footsteps of such artists as A Tribe Called Quest and Jurassic 5, Lazy Habits marry energetic jazz and funk with modern hip-hop to create a vibrant, vital sound. Their clever lyrics invoke the spirit of their native London, but you can also expect to find references to niche sci-fi alongside everyday tales of love, loss and youth. The end product doffs its cap to Plan B and Jamie T and sounds not unlike Mark Ronson remixing Braintax.
The horn-centric assault of lead single The Road (see video below) burns with the lyrical intensity of a confident young MC fueled by the raw power of a live brass section. You can download the John Hendicot remix of Memory Banks here. Like a fistful of attitude and a chomp on a tuba, it’s completely free.
