Interview With Himself
RIFF-RIBBED ROCK ‘N’ DROLL HARMONICS
Himself are from somewhere between Leeds and Huddersfield, something you’ll quickly discern upon hearing their brogue. They’ve recorded a mini-LP/maxi-EP called Herself (download it here and pay-what-you-want comrade). They contain the following ingredients: guitar riffage (half-a-pound, on the bone), delicate melodies (sprinkled widely), impassioned vocals (simmer until golden) and spoken narrative (ground half a bushel and fold slowly into the batter).
Whilst they love playing in front of the likes of me and thee in sweaty pubs on rainy Thursday nights the band have more recently been webcasting live gigs from the privacy of their own studio, where presumably they don’t have to put up with shoddy PAs, set-up/de-rig and people pissing on their shoes at the overflowing trough.
They’ll be playing some gigs in June (maybe/hopefully). Until then you can download The Saint Splendid Transport here for nowt. As Sean at Anthologies was the person to turn us on to the delights of Himself it seems only fair that we point you in the direction of his digital den (here), and, if you can bear to relive Christmases past, the session they recorded with the band last December (here).
