Interview With Early To Bed

IF YOU LIVED HERE YOU’D BE RUSHING WITH MILD EUPHORIA BY NOW

We love EardrumsPop and everything they stand for more than Lego, lust and life itself and we’re proudly carrying on our collaboration with their monthly singles club. If you’re not au fait with the drill, here’s how we roll. Once a month – or sometimes twice if you’re lucky - EardrumsPop hand-selects some bands and artists, usually with a geographic disparity and/or a penchant for the warm, melodic and fuzzy type of pop that makes your toes curl, and then they release a free single through their eyegasmic website. This single is more like a double though, because it contains several original tracks, a cover which the band felt needed some love and attention, and some awesome accompanying artwork designed by the band’s favourite illustrator. Oh, and of course we then wrap a digital bow round the whole thing with a photo-intraview.

As you may recall, we’ve already indulged in their laid-back ether-folk of Tiny Fireflies, Baffin Island, Alison Eales, Oláfachada and Far Concern, and now Early To Bed have arrived to massage the last knots of stress out of your soul.

Like so many of EardrumsPop’s projects which seem to make a mockery of geographic disparity, Early To Bed is another trans-Atlantic collaboration, this time between Meagan (Wisdom Tooth) and Henry (Me And The Horse I Rode In On). Meagan lives in the USA and Henry lives in Denmark. They have never actually met (hence why they have chosen this image to represent their union) but are frequent collaborators. In Megan’s words – “I know how to write songs but I can’t lay down a solid instrumental track for the life of me, which is where Henry comes in. He listens to the songs I send him, feels them out, and then translates them into something more polished and eloquent; something that articulates better what the original versions are clumsily trying to communicate.” The result is a euphoric yet restrained beauty that floats along just above the surf at sunset as the stars twinkle inquisitively through the day’s afterglow.

You can download Weathervane here for nowt to dramatically improve your chances of experiencing the warming tingles of mild euphoria before dinner. If that works for you (it will) then you should treat yourself to the whole package from EardrumsPop here. You’re definitely worth it.
