WTF is This?

Buckle yourself in, leave your dinner in the oven and familiarise yourself with all available fire exits - here’s a new concept for you . . .

We interview bands and musical artists, but instead of the tired and dreary formula of re-telling you about their mumbled, misunderstood words in a half-arsed write-up, we let them submit their answers through the beautiful, poetic and artistically-vague medium of photography (thereby retaining their own subjectivity and creative control). We then cobble this together in a svelte little package (revolutionarily – we’re calling this an album), with their self-portrait as the cover, a short blurb giving you a taster of the subject, links to all their social networking sites and even a free MP3 track for you to download.

Some submissions may even include short explanations of the images to help you immerse yourself deeper into the murky, sinister worlds of these artists which we admire. For each interview we alter the questions accordingly, and in the future we hope to attract some big names which you, dear visitor, can submit the questions for. But for the time being we hope that you agree with us that our idea lies favourably on the eternal continuum which stretches from rad to skill, so feel free to add us on Facebook, Flickr or Twitter, where you’ll be able to comment on the albums, get updates on new submissions and perve on the other sexy people visiting our site.

If you think the site could be improved in any way, fancy submitting an album yourself, or just want a chat, then hit us up, and we’ll hit you back. Hard. In the chops.

Competition

We love Young And Lost Club almost as much as we love vinyl, oxygen and life itself, so when the universe tripped, stumbled and accidentally aligned to offer us the opportunity to giveaway three Young And Lost Club vinyl packs to you tasteful people (as well as showcasing photo interviews from two of their leading artists – Planet Earth and Sunderbans), we went all weak at the knees, ejaculated involuntarily and went into a long, happy sleep where we dreamt of dinosaurs, dragons and Swedish nudists living together peacefully in a land made entirely of Lego.

Each pack that we are giving away contains a cumulative 26” of stellar groovage (as below)

Magic Wands – Magic, Love And Dreams EP (12”)
Swanton Bombs – Doom (7”)
Everything, Everything – My Keys, Your Boyfriend (7”)

To win one of these packs, and in keeping with the our theme, you need to take a photo to best answer the following question:

What is the most expensive or precious thing that you’d smash up, break or destroy simply for the purpose of taking a photo of it all smashed up, broken and destroyed, to win a competition.

Photos must be emailed to info@anegativenarrative.com before midnight on the 31st January. We’ll pick the winners that show the most originality, imagination, carnage and camera skill.
